About Imran

Ten years in rooms with teenagers, and what I see holding them back is never that nobody told them. They’ve been told, over and over, by people who meant every word. What nobody did was explain how they actually work. Give a young person the whole picture of themselves and they stop guessing: they know why they do what they do, and what it takes to make a change hold.

For the last ten years I have been running workshops for teenagers: with community interest groups, masjids, madrasas and youth groups. I am a father of six and uncle to some thirty nieces and nephews, so the world of young people is rarely more than a room away, and I have long been the one other families turn to when a young person needs a quiet word from someone who isn’t their parent. Remember Me grew out of those conversations.

#1 Amazon UK bestseller in three Young Adult categories, 4 September 2026.

I am based in Leicester, in the UK. I spent twenty-five years in corporate life and business, and I hold a Diploma in Islamic Studies. My own teacher is Shaykh Muhammad Zaqir, who has had me teach his students, and who wrote the line on the back of the book. I wrote it as a sadaqah jariyah: something good to outlast me, and reach young people I will never meet.

Alongside the Diploma I have read everything I can find on how people actually work: the Islamic tradition on the nafs, and the modern material on communication, persuasion and how a habit really changes. That is where the workshops come from. Teenagers are where I started. Where it goes next is their fathers: men in a room together, working on being better at home and better in the community.

The bread factories

Revive Darul Arqam, a UK-registered charity, is the humanitarian arm of the Darul Arqam Educational Trust, founded by my own teacher, Shaykh Muhammad Zaqir.

Every Ramadan I set my friends the same challenge: raise £10,000 for the bread factories in Syria. I have set it five years running.

It started in October 2020 in the rural areas of Aleppo and Afrin. It now reaches 35,000 families a month. Not food parcels. Bakeries, running all year.

Revive go out to Syria a few times a year, and they take supporters with them. I go when I can. If you would like to see it for yourself, register your interest with Revive. They run it, they set the terms, and they vet everybody who goes.

A portion of the proceeds from every copy of Remember Me goes there. Revive tell it better than I can →
