This is a one-man site. I collect as little as I can get away with, and I have written this so you can actually read it.
Who holds it
Imran Ali, based in Leicester, United Kingdom. You can reach me at enquiries@akhimranali.com.
What I collect, and why
- If you ask for Part One of the book
- Your email address, and nothing else. I use it once, to send you the link. I do not use it to sell you anything afterwards.
- If you join the list for workshops and events
- Your email address. I use it to tell you when the next workshop or event is on, and for nothing else.
- When you open a page
- Only what you say yes to. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether I can count your visit with Google Analytics. Say yes and it sets cookies, and tells me which pages you opened, roughly which country you were in, and which site sent you. Say no and nothing is counted. The cookies page lets you change your answer.
- If you use the contact form
- Your name, your email, what it is about, and your message. That arrives as an email to me, so it sits in my inbox until I delete it.
What I do not do
- No advertising. Nothing on this site follows you to other sites, and I never see your name in the page counts.
- No advertising cookies. The cookies page lists every cookie this site can set.
- I will never sell or share your email, to anybody, for anything.
- The video on this site does not load until you press play, so YouTube does not know you were here unless you choose to watch it.
Who else can see it
Three companies, because a website needs them:
- Resend sends the emails. The servers used for this site are in Ireland.
- Cloudflare runs the domain, and passes on anything sent to enquiries@ or imran@.
- Hostinger rents me the server the site runs on.
And a fourth only if you say yes on the banner: Google keeps the page counts, and may store them outside the UK.
The server keeps ordinary access records for a short time, so I can tell whether something is broken or being attacked. The spam protection on the forms keeps a scrambled, one-way version of your connection rather than your IP address, and it expires within the hour.
How long I keep it
Email addresses stay on the list until you ask me to take yours off. Messages you send me sit in my inbox until I delete them. I do not hold on to things for the sake of it.
Getting your details removed
Email enquiries@akhimranali.com and say so. You do not have to explain why, and I will do it. You can also ask me for a copy of whatever I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or tell me to stop using it.
If I get it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk. I would rather you told me first, but you do not have to.
If you are under 18
All of the above applies to you in the same way, and you can ask me to delete something yourself. If what you want to talk about is serious, the contact page lists people who will answer you properly and quickly, which I often cannot. How I work with young people is set out in my safeguarding policy.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. It is an honest account of what this site actually does, checked against how it is built. If that changes, this page changes with it.
